The 4th Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival (Golden Tree Festival) kicked off in Frankfurt, Germany on the evening of the 10th. Fifty-three documentary films will compete for 8 awards at this year's Golden Tree Festival, 7 of which are from China.
     The theme of this 4th Golden Tree Festival is "Roots and Inheritance of Culture," and the organizing committee has received 4,523 films from 126 countries and regions. Germany, the United States, France, China and the United Kingdom ranked in the top five. After the initial evaluation, primary election, pre-selection and other stages, 53 films were shortlisted.
     Sun Congbin, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Frankfurt, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, saying that the Golden Tree Festival provides a platform for the display of excellent documentaries from various countries and builds a bridge for cultural exchanges and mutual learning, which is conducive to promoting mutual understanding and understanding among people of various countries and promoting the building of a community of shared future for mankind. It is hoped that Chinese documentaries can go from Germany to Europe and from Europe to the world, telling Chinese stories to the world and showing an open China in an all-round way.
     Frankfurt City Council Member Stetzel said in his speech that the Golden Tree Festival has grown into a well-known documentary film festival, and the number of participants has steadily increased. The Golden Tree Festival makes an important contribution to Frankfurt's city culture.
    According to Wang Libin, chairman of the Golden Tree Festival and Beijing Huayun Shangde International Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., this year's Golden Tree Festival will screen 19 documentaries, with a total duration of 22 hours. At the same time, 10 shortlisted film teams will come to the scene to share the story behind the creation of the documentary with the audience face to face. In addition, a thematic forum will be held to discuss hot topics in the forefront of documentary films.
    After the opening ceremony, the guests watched the opening film "Sheep Hero" shot by Dutch director Ton van Zantfort. The current Golden Tree Festival will close on the 13th.
